The most common question we are asked about laser hair removal is what it costs, and it is the question the industry answers worst. Search for a price in Delhi and you will find offers ranging from a few hundred rupees to several lakh, often for what is described as the same treatment. That range is not a market finding its level. It is a sign that the thing being sold is not the same thing.

We would rather explain how the number is arrived at than advertise one and qualify it later. Below is what actually sits inside the price.

Why is there no single price for laser hair removal?

Because "laser hair removal" describes an outcome, not a procedure of fixed size. An upper lip takes a few minutes; full legs, back and chest take an hour or more of clinical time on a device that costs as much as a car. A price list that gave one figure for both would be lying about one of them.

The honest structure is a price per area per session, with the number of sessions estimated after your skin and hair have been examined. Anything quoted before that examination is a guess dressed as a quotation.

What actually drives the cost?

• The size of the area. This is the largest single factor, and the reason full body costs several times what underarms cost.
• The number of sessions your hair genuinely needs. A laser only affects follicles in their active growth phase, so a real course runs to six or eight sessions. A course sold as three has either been priced per session and stopped early, or was never a full course.
• The device and its maintenance. A medical-grade platform with proper cooling, serviced and calibrated, has running costs a cheaper machine does not. Those costs are in the price whether or not anyone mentions them.
• Who operates it. Settings chosen by a dermatologist after examining your skin cost more than settings taken off a preset by a technician. On Indian skin this is the difference between a result and a burn, and it is the part of the price worth paying for.
• What is included around the treatment. A patch test, a review appointment, and someone to call if your skin reacts are either in the price or they are not happening.

Is a package cheaper than paying per session?

Usually, and that is the point of them — but a package is a bet, and it is worth knowing which way it is weighted. You are paying up front for a fixed number of sessions before anyone knows how your hair responds. If you need fewer, the clinic keeps the difference. If you need more, you pay again.

A package is fair when the session count was set after an examination and the clinic will tell you when you no longer need to come. It is not fair when it was sold to you before anyone looked at your skin. Ask what happens to unused sessions, ask whether the course can be extended at the same rate, and get both answers before paying.

Why the cheapest quote is often the most expensive

There is a version of this treatment that is genuinely cheap to deliver: a low-cost machine, energy settings kept conservative enough to be safe for everyone regardless of skin type, and an operator working from a chart. It is not dangerous. It simply does not work very well, and people finish a course with hair that has thinned slightly and grown back within months.

There is a second version that is cheap and is dangerous: settings meant for lighter skin used on Indian skin, without a patch test. That produces burns and post-inflammatory pigmentation — and treating pigmentation costs considerably more than laser hair removal ever did.

The expensive outcome is not a high quote. It is paying twice: once for a course that did not work, and again for the problem it caused.

What should I ask before paying?

• Who will examine my skin, and who will set the laser parameters?
• Is a patch test included, and how long before the first full session?
• How many sessions do you estimate for my hair, and what happens if I need more?
• What is the price per session for this area if I do not take a package?
• What happens, and at what cost, if my skin reacts badly?

A clinic that answers all five without hesitation is one whose price you can compare. A clinic that will only discuss a discounted package total is not quoting for the same thing.

Where your own course lands inside that depends on the area, your hair and the number of sessions it genuinely needs — which is decided after Dr Nikita Gupta has examined your skin, not before. You will be told the price for your plan, in full, before anything is booked.

If a smaller course or a different treatment would serve you better, you will be told that too. It is a poor way to sell packages and a good way to keep patients.
